I am researching my Ukrainian roots and have found information from ShipsList and InfoUkes about my grandparents arrival in Canada from Ukraine in 1930. The left from Southampton and their arrival was Quebec.In one of the documents it mentioned that their contact in Canada was the Superintent of the CPR, Winnipeg. They settled in Alberta fairly soon after arrival in Canada. Having just read a book on Ukrainians in North America it states that there was some sort of "clearing house" for immigrants wanting to settle in the prairies through Winnipeg. Can anyone help me get any information on how the immigrants were introduced to their new communities? To the best of my knowledge my grandparents and their two young children had no other family here in Canada, so am at a bit of a loss as to how they would know they wanted to go to Alberta. Any information would be greatly appreciated.
