Hi Katrina, On the application form,(Application for Genealogical Search) it states that you need the immediate next of kin if they are still alive. In your case, it would probably be safe to say that they are deceased. I spoke with Vital Stats the other day for someone else, and was told that it is an original photocopy of the registration of the event held in their files: it is stamped 'Genealogical Purposes only'.
