I made a request (and sent $5.00) under the ACCESS TO INFORMATION (ATI) ACT for the Naturalization Records of my G-Grandfather who settled in Manitoba. I desperately want to know where he came from. They wrote back stating that I need to be a Canadian citizen, a permanent resident or an individual or corporation presently in Canada. I do not meet ANY of these requirements! They also stated that I could resubmit my request through an individual who has right of access and that my written consent authorizing him/her to receive my personal information would also be required.
