Hello Gary, a bit of sleuthing for you to give you some leads, perhaps..... As Ruth came to Canada in 1854 it would have been to Ontario. In the 1881 census in Manitoba, James Ravey family is the only one to spell their name R A V E Y. However there is a 7-year old Carles Ravey living with the Henry James family in Hastings North, Ontario so perhaps Carles is James and Ruth's son living with her brother. Mabel and Martin were born in Ontario and Carles is an age in between. There is a Margaret James living with Henry, born c1823 who could be Ruth's mother. Conclusion is Ruth Ravey was formerly Ruth James. What do you think?
