    1. [CAN-Manitoba] Looking for Ernest HEATHER
    2. Frank Heather
    3. I would much appreciate help in trying to trace the lost years (1905 to 1915) of Ernest HEATHER. He was born in 1891 in High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, England and emigrated ca 1905 to Canada with his uncle Thomas Heather. He settled somewhere in the Brandon-Medora-Lauder area of Manitoba. Papers from the Canadian National Archive show that when he enlisted in the Canadian army in 1915 he was medically examined at Medora and his attestation certified at Brandon. He served with the 19th Bn Canadian Infantry (1st Central Ontario Regiment) and was killed near Arras in 1918. A handkerchief handed down in the family (he would have been my uncle) is embroidered "A souvenir of Medora" I have traced his uncle Thomas Heather who farmed near Lauder until his death in 1926. But there is no trace of Ernest there and the ten years 1905-1915 are a blank; his enlistment papers only give the clue that he was farming. Any help from Manitoba listers as to his whereabouts, mention on any war memorial inscription etc would be very welcome. Frank Heather, Surrey, England
