Hi Roy: Thanks to you Roy, Pat Williamson and Janet MacDonald, I have finally found Elizabeth McGowan and her husband David McGowan - in the Rural Municipality of Louise. I thank you all so much for taking the trouble to look up these records. I must admit I was completely lost in Manitoba when it comes to knowing where to look, or even what records are available on-line. You are so helpful on your mailing list. I really thought I was making a shot in the dark when I put my query on the Mailing List, but not so. Elizabeth WALLWIN McGOWAN was the last of my Grandfather's sisters to be "found", and thanks to all of you, I can now add to my family history. Her death date matches the one in the Family Bible. I don't know when they left Ontario for Manitoba, but they should be in the 1891 census. Now that I know where they lived, I can look it up on-line. Thank you all again for your help. You're a great list. Anne Stevens (nee Walwin) Newmarket, Ont. Registration # 1893,003071, and David McGowan, age 49, died May 28, 1901 in the rural Municipality of Louise, Registration # 1901,003146. The R. M. of Louise is in southern Manitoba about 200 klm west of Winnipeg. If you send the registration # to the Manitoba archives along with $12.00 per request they will send you what info they have. Check out gov.mb.ca and you can print out your own form. Could not find them in the 1881 census. Will try and find David in the 1901 census if my library has the records for Louise.
