Meridel: If your ancestor "homesteaded" - in other words, was the first farmer on the land, you can search homestead records at the National Archives site at : http://www.archives.ca/exec/naweb.dll?fs&0201&e&top&0 Use the link for "Dominion Land Grants," then "Search the Database" Put your surname in the "name" box and try that. If you get too many responses, then try your surname plus W1 (in the Meridian pull down menu) as I suspect Selkirk would be considered in W1. If your ancestor was not likely the first owner on his land, then you will probalby have to contact the nearest Land Titles Office to Selkirk which is likely: Winnipeg Land Titles LL25 - 405 Broadway Winnipeg MB R3C 3L6 phone: (204) 945-2042 fax: (204) 948-2140 If they don't have the records, they can probably tell you who has.
