WILLSON of Minnedosa and children are visitors at the home of Mrs. A. ROCKHALL. ========================= 7/27/1939 (Strathclair) The annual meeting of Strathclair Consolidated School No. 284 was held July 17, with Rev. G. A. COLPITTS appointed chairman. There was a good attendance of ratepayers who observed a two minute silence out of respect to the memory of the late Malcolm MC LEAN, who passed away since the last annual meeting. The late Mr. MC LEAN was a member of the board for fifteen years, the last six of which as chairman. The financial report, in spite of several new undertakings including the wiring of the school for the hydro service, shows a balance the same as last report. Satisfaction was expressed at the work of the staff and results obtained. Election resulted in Malcolm CAMPBELL and G. V. HENDERSON replacing Dan BURGESS, retired and the late Mr. MC LEAN's vacancy. ======================== 7/27/1939 (Oak River - A. CORBET, correspondent) Mr. and Mrs. R. MURRAY, Mr. and Mrs. F. L. BOWMAN andLuella, and Mr. and Mrs. W. A. BARR, Chrissie and Jean visited Rev. and Mrs. BYGRAVE at Sandy Lake Sunday. Lionel HART went over with the BARRs and remained to holiday with Cecil BYGRAVE. Mr. BOWMAN was the centre of attraction during the evening when he hauled a 9-pound jackfish from the lake. =========================== 9/7/1939 (Mount Calm) Jas. A. ENGLISH and family and Thos. H. C. HARTLEY of Indian Head, Sask., visited for a few days at the home Mr. and Mrs. J. GREENAWAY. Mrs. GREENAWAY is a sister of Mr. HARTLEY. Mr. HARTLEY retired this past summer from the active ministry. He has served the past ten years in the dried out area of Saskatchewan. Mr. and Mrs. Chas. BICCUM heard today that their son, Ed. BICCUM of Waskada, had gone to Winnipeg to enlist. Wilfred LOWE also left last week to enlist. ============================== 9/14/1939 (Glossop) Mr. Ben LEE motored to Winnipeg last Sunday accompanied by Miss Laura LEE and Miss Sylvia MC LEAN.
