Charles Frederick Watkins was born on Redwick Farm, Bristol, Gloucestershire, England on Sept 16, 1894. As a young man of 27 years, he immigrated to Canada in 1921. He worked with aunt and uncle, Harry and Emily Baker on their farm at Clearwater, MB. Mabel Neal, who was born Sept 3, 1896 at Hilliers Close, Malmsbury, Wilts sailed on the S.S. Doric in May 1931, which came to port in Montreal, PQ. She worked her way across the country to get to Winnipeg. Here she worked as a chambermaid at the Fort Garry Hotel until she married Charles. The wedding took place in St. Andrew's Anglican Church in Crystal City. They lived in the town of Clearwater for the rest of their lives. Here they raised 3 children, Stanley, Gwen, and Daniel. Charles worked a small farm w/ livestock. As well, he did some carpentry (building Soldier settlement houses) and later, he was known as the town cobbler. They kept a large garden, and hunting and fishing were an important part of their life.The children attended Clearwater school and St. Paul's Anglican Church. --------------------------------- Do you Yahoo!?
