    1. [CAN-Manitoba] Back from the archives with renewed hope!

    3. Hi all! I spent my day at the archives today and found very interesting information about James Sangster and Mary Flett's children. I thought I would share with you all! Before, I had written that James and Mary had 4 children: Ethel, John Joseph, Marie Agathe and William. I also assumed that Ethel was the eldest. I was proven wrong today! While looking at baptismal records, it was indicated that Marie Agathe was baptised in 1877, however she was 4 years old, therefore, she was born in 1873. John Joseph was born in late 1875 (he was baptised when he was 6 months old). I also discovered that Ethel was married when she was a minor. The priest had written that they had to annouce the wedding 4 times and that parental consent on both sides had been given. Judging by this information, James and Mary were still alive in 1892. As well, I found out that they were members of the St. Boniface parish. In a another coincidence, for three above children, all their godparents were Metis! (this renewed my hope to find the Metis link) and that one of the godparents may have adopted William Sangster (since there was mention of the Petrino family) Unfortunately, I didn't have the chance to check out William Sangster's wedding certificate. Anyways, I hope you all have a great week-end!! Lise
