    1. [CAN-Manitoba] Newspaper look up in Kenora

    3. Hi Everyone, This is a strange request for a Manitoba List, however, I thought I'd give it a whirl. I grew up in Kenora, Ontario (not far from Winnipeg). I live in Vancouver now (for 30 yrs) and have recently started my family roots search. One of the things I need and can't get from this distance is the local paper (Miner and News) archive files on microfilm. I (via e-mail) to the newspaper office asked how far back they had them. The have bound copies from 18 . They are on microfilm at the Kenora Library. I have contacted the library 3 times with out a response yet, and also the museum. My grandfather, whom I know so little about, died tragically in approx. 1920 in Kenora. He hung himself in jail. I do not know why he was in jail. He immigrated from Ukraine in 1910. There may be an article on him and/or an obituary in the newspaper. If an article, it may explain the story behind his incarceration and death. So here is the big question. After all these years being away, I have no contacts in Kenora. Does anyone on the list no someone who lives in Kenora who would be willing to go to the library for me and look up Miner & News microfilm for the years 1919, 1920, 1921. I do not think there would be many issues for each year or a very thick paper. With this in mind, I hope it would not be a large task. I would be more than willing to pay someone to do this, make a copy or have it scanned into a computer and sent to me by e-mail etc. Sincerely, Noreen RESEARCHING UKRAINE>CANADA SURNAMES: KRUTZ/KRUST/KRUTS HRUTS/HRUSCYK/HRUSHAK KORMYLO/CORMYLO/KORMELO PETRUNIAK ANTONIAK
