Hi, I am one of the list members that is interested in the Central Plains region of Manitoba, from Portage La Prairie and east to Pigeon Lake. I was looking at the 1891 census for Lisgar, which includes St. Francis Xavier, in which Pigeon Lake is included. My relatives show up on page 44, entry 201 which is at the very end of the St. Francis Xavier township or enumeration district. My great grandmother, Sarah Ford Townsend shows up in entry 201, being the housekeeper for three bachelor Cockbaine brothers from Cumbria, England. Her son, Henry John Ford married the sister of the Cockbaine brothers in November, 1890 in Portage La Prairie, and then moved on to homestead in Ladner, British Columbia. Sarah is 58 and married. But her husband, John Townsend, doesn't show up in Lisgar, at least not in St. Francis Xavier. My thinking is that as Sarah shows up at the tail end of St. Francis Xavier, maybe John Townsend is an adjoining district. In 1901, Sarah uses her maiden name and shows up as a widow in Richmond, British Columbia. So could anyone help me in locating the enumeration districts that adjoined St. Francis Xavier in 1891? Thanks, Bob Ford Seattle ________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com
