Hello, I know about the 1911 Canadian Census, what I am trying to find out is where a family was in Winnipeg. And since Winnipeg was a big place and has a lot of census images, I thought someone might have access to old phone books for 1911 and see if they can find exactly where the family was so I can pin point them on the census. The name is Tomasz Olender/Olander Thank you Mary
I don't see just how knowing an address will help with the 1911, since they don't (yet?) have a schedule 2. I asked on the 1911 census group and it is not known if they are or will be made available. Do you know the ward or section breakdown, as I also have some addresses and would like to not have to hunt through thousands of pages Stu At 08:08 PM 26/07/2005, you wrote: >Hello, > > I know about the 1911 Canadian Census, what I am trying to find out is >where a family was in Winnipeg. > > And since Winnipeg was a big place and has a lot of census images, I >thought someone might have access to old phone books for 1911 and see if >they can >find exactly where the family was so I can pin point them on the census. > >The name is Tomasz Olender/Olander > >Thank you >Mary -- No virus found in this outgoing message. Hi Stu, In the 1911 census, going from left to right, next to the surnames and given names, the next column is the address of the people. Either a street address or a quarter section (township/range) for rural locations. For a city, you require some idea of the ward to search, then try each page, checking on the addresses listed until you get in the particular area. Then scan each entry.
