    1. Trying to trace Simpson/Dunfield family in Portage La Prairie
    2. Truscott
    3. Hi fellow Listers, I'm hoping someone may be researching the same line, or be able to guide me where to look next. I found on the Manitoba Vital Stats website a marriage between Robert Murray Simpson to Sarah Louise Dunfield Jan 14 1892 in Portage La Prairie. They had three children born there Roy Carleton Simpson born 1893 William James Simpson born 1895 Eva Luella Simpson born 1899. I also found a Roy Carleton Simpson married to Eva Mae Black in Riverside June 11 1919 and assume this is the above mentioned son. Sarah Louise Simpson nee Dunfield died, and Robert Murray was to have remarried - may have done so twice - at one point a Henrietta Polson may have been one of them. I don't know when Sarah died, Robert Murray died Dec 28 1958 and is buried in the Elmwood Cemetery in Winnipeg. Any help would be great, I keep hitting brick walls and am not sure this is even the right line to be researching. I did locate Robert Murray Simpson's obit from the Winnipeg Free Press but no mention of his three children, any of his wives or who his siblings or parents were. A mention is made of a granddaughter, but I have since learned it was more a case of this kind woman adopting him in his old age and helped look after him, no actual blood relationship. His daughter was to have married and farmed in Swan Lake, and his brother was to have been there as well, I believe that brother to be a Fred Simpson who had married a Janet McMaster. In 1943 they celebrated their 44th wedding anniversary and mention is made of them having recently sold their farm in Somerset, Manitoba. Thank you, Leah

    3. Hi all I'm trying to find some information out about Ellen Edith WALKER born Jan 2 1879 in Swaffham Norfolk UK. In 1901 census she is still living with her father William in Swaffham, but on Nov 6 1906 she marries Harry Lyne POOLE (born 27 Sept 1871 Wiltshire UK) in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Here they have 2 children, Lucy and William but they then move to Ohio, US and have 4 more children, John, Alina, Thomas and Richard. If anyone can shed any light (or point me in the right direction) on when/why/how Ellen arrived in Canada or any other information about the family, I'd be very grateful. Thanks in anticipation Richard

It would sure be nice to find similar records for northbound travellers. tricia Allen & Darlene Dowhaniuk wrote: > > Hello Susan, > > I have never used this site but it was passed on to me a while back and I > saved it. > http://www.webbitt.com/volga/border.htm >

Are these records on film or fiche or on-line? If film or fiche are they available through inter-library loan and where from Ottawa or Winnipeg? S. Rex
