    3. Anne: There is a lot of information on Thomas WATSON and his family in the Melita History Book. I will scan it and send it directly to you. He had 14 children so surely there should be someone left even after all this time. There was a family reunion in 1980 in Kamloops, B.C. and maybe I can find some relatives there. Joyce in Calgary. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Janet MacDonald" <jkmacd@telusplanet.net> To: <CAN-MANITOBA-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, June 29, 2005 11:41 AM Subject: Re: [CAN-Manitoba] Thomas Watson descendants > Anne: > > There is Thomas's attestation papers fromWW1 on archivanet. 3. The following was in the N.S. rootsweb postings and thought might be of interest to MB researchers. Monday, May 3, 1948 The Halifax Mail, Halifax, N.S. Sea-Born Babe Named "Halifax" The City of Halifax has been honored by a one-day-old baby, who has been christened Hella Halifax. Had the baby girl been born eight hours later, she would have been a Canadian citizen. As she was born aboard a ship eight hours before it reached this Port of Halifax, she is now a citizen of Greece, although her parents are Polish. The baby was born at sea aboard the Greel liner Nea Hellas at 5 a.m. Friday when the ship was but eight hours sailing time from Halifax. The mother, Mrs Sophia Danylak is among the 642 displaced persons from Italy who plan to settle in Canada. As Hela Halifax was born on a Greek ship, she is Greek, her parents are natives of Poland and the baby wants to become a Canadian. Right now, Hella Halifax is in a maternity hospital in the city, who's name she bears. When she and the mother improve in health, they will travel to Poplarfield, Manitoba, where the family will live.
