Terry, As a Listowner and the Listowner of the CAN-Manitoba-L Mailing List, I know better and know I should edit some messages before I send them on to the list. I blame my absent-mindedness on a long day at the office, then trying to read through 41 e-mails for the day in 88 degree heat. Today it's 87 degrees! As the Listowner, the CAN-MANITOBA-L Mailing List is for anyone who has a genealogical or historical interest in Manitoba. This includes those announcing their interest in volunteering for genealogical or historical interest activities in Manitoba. There will always be Replies to messages about the same subject on this list. That's what the list is about, corresponding, sharing and helping each other. As the Listowner, I will decide if the subject is inappropriate. If the subject is inappropriate, I will warn the distributor of the message and if necessary, remove them from the list. Hi Bette, Yes, Bill told me he was moving his site to http://www.westmanitoba.com/ The page Title is Western Manitoba Genealogy Project. I was really disappointed that he didn't want to be part of Canada's Manitoba GenWeb Project. And disappointed to see all of that information go away from the GenWeb Project. I'm glad you meant to post the Western Region, MB GenWeb Project. http://www.rootsweb.com/~mbwest/ When we volunteer for GenWeb projects, we can use our own sites or get free webspace, mailing lists, GenConnect Boards from RootsWeb. RootsWeb supports all GenWeb projects and free genealogy on the internet. The information and data will be stored on RootsWeb servers forever, even if volunteers decide to leave and create their own projects. Gail, Was the hospital in Neepawa called Dynevor? I doubt it. I may not know of course but I don't think so. I've never heard that word at any time during the time I lived in Neepawa. Bette
Greetings, Jud: I think we may have a link between our trees! Jud Elsey wrote: > > Thanks very much for your info. I am looking for info on James Hill > wife Frances (Sharman) Hill, daughter Ethel and family living in > Neepawa 1897 (about). My grandfather was Thomas Nile Sharman and his brother was William Francis Sharman. They went by the names Nile and Frank, and about 1920 or so, thay changed the spelling of their surnames to Sherman. Parents were William J. Sharman and Janett "Jessie" Poole. They had three sisters: Prudenchia A. Sharman, Martha "Alice" Sharman and Ellen C. Sharman. Now, here is where the conicidences become very interesting: > Trying to find adoption records for Lillian Maud Hill whose mother died > at her birth. He is on the list of pioneer to Neepawa, but that is all > I can find. Thanks again for you help. > Jud - beautiful Nanoose Bay BC Although the names aren't the same, the story almost is! Both Prudence and Ellen died of influenza during the great epidemic in 1818. At the time of her death, Ellen was about 7 or 8 months pregnant, and the doctor attended her death and extracted the baby immediately after Ellen expired. She was a very small baby, and was raised by Alice and her husband ?Robert Trodden. According to the info from my Auntie Mary, they adopted her and named her Ellen after her mother (but Mary has been frequently known to be erroneous in her information). They all later moved out to BC, Mary says Victoria, but that may also be wrong. Mary doesn't know whether or not Ellen was married, and she also doesn't know what name Ellen went by. I got the names from the 1901 Census. The Sharmans arrived in the Neepawa area (Langford Municipality) in the 1870's. I believe, but haven't yet confirmed it, that Thomas E. Sharman, who farmed the half-section adjacent to William F., was William F.'s brother. Please tell me what you think of all this. Ever seeking my roots, Patricia
Thanks very much Gail - Cannot connect. Thanks Jud
Thanks very much for your info. I am looking for info on James Hill wife Frances (Sharman) Hill, daughter Ethel and family living in Neepawa 1897 (about). Trying to find adoption records for Lillian Maud Hill whose mother died at her birth. He is on the list of pioneer to Neepawa, but that is all I can find. Thanks again for you help.
