Gimely or Gimili, not sure of spelling, Manitoba had airforce base. Jud
One major WW2 training field I know of was McDonald, near Portage la Prairie. It was a gunnery school. There was another base called Southport at Portage as well. Winnipeg was and still is a large base. Churchill was also a minor training site. Shilo was an Army base as was Rivers, although Air Force personnel were stationed there. Have you contacted the Dept. of Defense? I am looking for information on relatives of Wasyl Deneka and Ksania Kuzina. They arrived from Poland in 1909. They were born in Cieszanow, Galacia. Wasyl was born March 6, 1863. Ksania was born January 17, 1870. They lived in the Okno area of Manitoba. They had 5 children, who are now all deceased. I am not sure if Wasyl or Ksania had any brothers or sisters. Can anyone help?

Hi! I have come across a few photographs that don't belong to my family. They are pictures of friends of my father (when my father was a young boy). I'm guessing that they were taken in the 30's. If someone is researching these names and would like these photos I would be happy to mail them to the interested party. There are only 3 photos. I am guessing they are from the Kenora, Ontario or Winnipeg areas. There is an actual address on one of them. The names are OLIVE BAMILING (2 photos, one with an address - 375 Berry St. James, Winnipeg, Manitoba, phone 63-271 The 2nd picture is of 3 young boys the names on the back are: JOHN SHIMKA, BILL FRANCHUK. The 3rd boy is written only as MIKE B. I don't have a scanner, but if anyone is interested in these names I will ask a friend to scan them for me. Sincerely, Noreen
Hi All, I was out in the thrift shops recently going through some books and came across someone else's family tree... The book is called "Scattered Leaves" and was written in 1978 by Blanche Pearsall of Maple Ridge, British Columbia, Canada. The book contains a lot of information on the WELLS surname and I thought it would be a good idea to post a note here to see if their are any WELLS researchers out there who might be interested... Here are a few of the WELLS names listed in the book... I hope it is of some help. George Henry Wells, b Jan. 31, 1855 died Sept. 3, 1919 Henry Owen Wells, born Woodchurch, Kent England married April 16, 1850 to Frances Hitchings John James Wells, Fanny Elizabeth Wells, married Frank Scotland. Edith May Wells, married Jacob Humeston John James Wells Annie Bertha Wells, spinster Katherine Eliza, married Gilbert A. Graham Ellen Louisa Wells, married Roy L.
