    3. Greetings, Lois: Well, there's nothing like picking up the mail only to find about 200 messages piled up! Oh, I've been really busy the past few days. We had a Folk Festival here, and I was doing tarot card readings. I had to be at the Festival site to set up on Friday evening, then over 12 hours each day on Saturday and Sunday. Monday, I went out in the morning to take down my booth, and then I got sick to my belly, and I spent the rest of the day mostly sleeping. At least I'm feeling well now, but it was really exhausting. Finally I'm getting caught up on responding to all the messages. lois remillard wrote: > > what's your interest in Swan River? ... There were also children from Robert's second wife, Elizabeth Honeyford, of whom I only know that one was named Richard SMITH. The children of Hairsine SMITH and Lottie Muttart include: Robert, Margaret, Sidney, Bertha, Ashley, Ivan, Jack, David and Lorna. > Maybe the library has copies to sell.. In my experience, libraries won't sell books, if they did, the local bookstores would be infuriated. Maybe the local tourism bureau would have some, or the Chamber of Commerce, or the municipal office. There also may be a local history society, and the society probably compiled the info for the book. 1. [CAN-Manitoba] Willie Thomson death
    2. Don Thomson
    3. I have been trying to determine where and when a realtive of mine died. William "Willie" Thomson was born 3 Aug 1871 in Renfrewshire, Scotland, married there, and entered Canada about the time of WW One. He is thought to have resided in Ontario and died in late 1940 era. Don't know the name of his wife, but they were married in Scotland. They had five children when they left Scotland, one child was Agness. They had at least three sons, who may have names of Hugh, William, and James. The sons are said to have worked the wheat fields, probably west of Ontario. This may be where William Thomson died. Ontario has no death record for him covering the period from 1943 through 1958. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I am researching My husband's maternal grandmother, Mary Winter, daughter of John Winter and Josepha Sojka. Mary was born in Elma, MB in Eastern MB near Whitemouth. Her father had a homestead at Elma at Section 5 Twp 11 Range 12 EPM. Thanks to the information on your list, I have contacted the Manitoba Archives, and they are preparing a copy of the homestead application. I believe that my husband's g grandmother moved to Winnipeg when she was older. When I have time, I will be researching the death records and burial locations in Winnipeg. I am also interested in the immigration patterns in the province at the turn of the century, and very interested in Polish immigrants. 1. [CAN-Manitoba] Anyone here researching Flett/Sangster?
    2. Lise Boissonneault
    3. Hi! I am researching the following people: Mary Flett James Sangster Unfortunately, I do not know where or when they were born, married or died but do know the following. Their first born, Ethel was born in 1874 in the nwt. She was married in 1892 to Napoleon Levesque in St. Boniface and had 10 children, one of them my grandmother. She (Ethel) died in 1927 in St. Boniface and is buried at the St. Boniface Cemetary. John Joseph Sangster was baptised in St. Francois Xavier, MB in 1876. This is all the information I have regarding him. Marie Agathe Sangster was born or baptised in St. Boniface, MB in 1877. No other information is known about her. William James Sangster was apparently raised by the Petrini family and married Yvonne Delagrave. I beleive that the marriage did not work out since William apparentely left to go to Quebec in 1907 and she stayed behind. Apart from that I have no information regarding him. As you can see, my family was quite obscure! I've been researching this line for years (it's my final line to research) and over the week-end, I've learned more about William than I have for the past 10 years! Do these names appear familiar to anybody? If so, please contact me!! Thank-you! Lise

    1. [CAN-Manitoba] Question from Listowner
    2. Ron Davies
    3. On July 14, Phyllis Haynen asked members to list the areas being searched for ancestors. I didn't see that message until this evening being a newcomer to the list. I'm looking for anybody connected to DAVIES - VANDERBURG - WEBB I'm particularly interested in locating particulars about a Dr. Russ Davies who might be an uncle or cousin. All I have is a photo taken by a Winnipeg photographer but with no date. My hunch is that he was a son of one of my paternal Grandfather's brothers. Re area, that would most likely be Winnipeg and environs but anywhere info might turn up would be fine. If anybody happens to know about a Edith Vanderburg who taught school in Sault St. Marie, I'd also be grateful. I think there were Vanderburg's in Winnipeg/Manitoba. I knew Edith when I was a child, even have her former Soo address. I'm guessing she's the daughter of my Grandmother Clarissa Elizabeth Vanderburg/Webb who took me to raise along with Grandfather Wellington and two of mother's adoptive sisters, Florence and Charlotte[Lottie] Webb. Thanks all. Ron Davies Surrey, B.C.
