    3. The following Kildonan cemetery has been transcribed: #66 Kildonan Presbyterian 1984 pgs. 280 cost: $38.00 The website is: http://www.mbnet.mb.ca/~mgs/mgs_mis.html Does anyone know if Brookside Cemetery in Winnipeg has been transcribed? I am looking for the MIs of my grfather, Hamilton Josiah HUNTER, his wife, Gertrude LOBB HUNTER, my g-grfather, Josiah HUNTER & his wife, Mary DOAK HUNTER. If anyone lives in the area, I'd kill for photos of the graves (well, maybe not kill, but would certainly reimburse the expenses of SKS). 1. [CAN-Manitoba] My missing Gt Grandfather/using provincial newspapers, etc.
    2. Ann McClean
    3. This is a reply to everyone who was good enough to respond to my original posting regarding contacting a provincial newspaper in an effort to trace possible descendants of my runaway Gt Grandfather, WALTER SCOTT. He was born 6 October 1867 in Christchurch, Upwell, Isle of Ely - now North Cambridgeshire. He has no middle name. His parents were John & Hannah Scott, of Christchurch. (I have just received a copy of his birth certificate from the GRO.) The SCOTTs were then, and still are, wealthy farmers. They were also, and still are, staunch Methodists. When Walter did his "runner" to Canada, he was accompanied by the local school mistress - I have yet to find out her name; I hope to be able to do this next time I visit the CRO in Cambridge - but that won't be until next year now. It should certainly be on the U.K. 1901 Census due for release Jan. 2002 (and also on the Canadian 1911 Census!) They left U.K. in about 1905 - but from where, I don't know. This is all the information I have, as Walter is still a VERY touchy subject in my father's family and I only found out about him back in March when I realised there was no headstone for him in the village Churchyard where the rest of his family lie. I have tried all the Canadian GenWeb sites and various other recommended listings but to no avail - hence my posting re: writing to a provincial newspaper. I have been on the Provincial Canadian lists since the Spring and culled a lot of knowledge regarding Land Grants, Ship's Passenger lists, etc, but untill I can find out exactly when he left England and where he settled in Canada, I'm knocking my head against the proverbial brick wall! Once the 1911 Candian Census is released, I may stand a chance of finding him, but until then, I'm clutching at straws. But my father, aged 76, (after a life threatening spell in hospital) is now extremely keen to find out what happened to his never-known Grandfather, so I am exploring all angles in the quest for the elusive Walter! 1. [CAN-Manitoba] Finding REED Family from England
    2. Aileen Grant
    3. Hello Everyone, I am doing a search for family of the name of REED. I have Alfred William Reed[ grgrandparent] who died in Auckland, New Zealand in 1915 aged 77 years. I have his date of birth as in 1838 approx. On his death certificate it states that he was born in British Columbia, CANADA But we are not certain of that.. This date seems to be too early for any records available in B.C. as they apparently do not start till the 1870's. Family talk is that he was sent to England to train in the Royal Navy at Sheerness where a connected family lived. There was a cousin called Emily [born in CANADA] aged about 45 yrs old and single, who was visiting England in 1881 - this is from the British 1881 census.. If there is anyone researching this name of REED and has family with naval connections and a sailing tradition or for whom the name Emily Reed born about 1836-40 in CANADA rings a bell please contact me. Do hope there is someone out there who may have a link for us to follow. Regards and best wishes Aileen.

Can anyone help?" I don't know haow it got changed to what came with your reply. She was supposed to have left Makinak in 1905. The railway didn't get to Melfort until 1909. So she must have have gone to the nearest rail point at that time.
