    3. Hi, Nicole.....I'm interested in knowing if you have any family history on Elisabeth Bertrand. My great grandmother Mary Bertrand, b. 1871 was from that area, but I know nothing about her family other than her parents were David Bertrand and her mother was Anne McCoy. Mary married Joseph Henri Leclair in Fort Coulonge, PQ in 1895. Any of this sound familiar? 1. [CAN-Manitoba] LISGAR DISTRICT, MANITOBA 1901 CENSUS: RHINELAND
    2. Victoria
    3. Hello, Here is another census from Ancestry.com. It is free until November 26th. LISGAR DISTRICT, MANITOBA 1901 CENSUS: RHINELAND Located in the census district of Lisgar, Rhineland had a population of more than 10,900 by 1901. This database lists at least that many entries of residents for the census year 1901. The subdistrict of Rhineland (F) in the census district of Lisgar (#7) can be found at the National Archives on the reel number provided within the database. This database contains each person's full name, relationship to the head of the household, full date of birth, birthplace, and year of immigration to Canada (if not Canadian by birth). It also includes the National Archives film number, division number, page number, and family number to help researchers obtain a copy of the actual record, if desired. This database will be of particular interest to researchers with Manitoba ancestors, especially if they are of Russian descent, because during the 1870s, many Russian Mennonites migrated to this southern Manitoba region. Source Information: Hewitt, Doneen, comp. "Lisgar District, Manitoba 1901 Census: Rhineland." [database online] Provo, UT: Ancestry.com, 2000-. Original data: Government of Canada. 1. Re: [CAN-Manitoba] Lord Selkirk book
    2. Thanks Gail. They do have one. I will keep this address. Now all I have to find is, keep these in mind if your browsing the book store. Bumstead"s.-The Clearances Manitoba Press and I don't know if this is a book or not. It's mentioned in nearly all Scottish research-Lord Selkirks Diaries. One book that is probably easy to find in the Manitoba area is the story of The Red River Settlement. It's probably taught in the schools just like our schools teach all about the Spanish Missions in California. I'm trying to put together a family book for my brother for Christmas. I seem to get these GREAT ideas with a deadline that's impossible to meet. Maybe 1/2 a book!. Talk later-Maggi

    1. [CAN-Manitoba] Lawyers in Neepawa
    2. Bette Kosmolak
    3. Hi Jud, Idon't think there is a list of Neepawa lawyers (at least not to my knowledge) but the most prominent lawyer in Neepawa was Mr. James H. Howden, who was called to the bar in 1887 and moved to Neepawa in 1892. Howden died in 1838 so I expect he practiced law most of that time, as well as being a minister in the Roblin cabinet in 1907, re-elected in 1911 and 1915 (when he served as Attorney General) and Mayor of Neepawa in 1900. Are you looking for someone in particular? Bette in BC

    3. Conrad, I can't help you with your BULLARD line but I can tell you there was a Bullard family in Minnedosa in the 1950's and that they moved to Brandon where I think someone in that family went into the car business. They had a son Robert (Bob) Bullard who would have been born about 1945. Bette

    3. Hello all I am looking for a SNELLSON family ( I believe in the Virden area) who may be of some help to me in my research of my LEECH connection. My grfather William LEECH came to Canada in 1883/4 from Cheshire England . This past weekend I met and visited with an aunt of mine who is sure that when my grfather came here it was with this family as opposed to his mother Esther LEECH and siblings Thomas/Mary/Frederic (LEECH) So I would really like to speak with a member of the family to see if they may have any recollections . Any help very much appreciated . Thanks Judith LEECH in WINNIPEG
