Hello all has anyone out there heard of a book first published in 1981-on the history of the Pipestone area?I have heard it contains a lot of history of local folks, one of which is the LEECH family which were my gr.parents who homesteaded in the area in the late 1800,s. Any ideas on where to look would be most gratefully received. Judith

Another researcher has another Christopher APPLETON in Winnipeg at the same time, who was supposedly born there in 1876!! And she has a tree for him. It turns out his mothers name is Ann, and father's name is Richard, and his father is a horse trainer. The problem with that, is that is exactly almost the same as my Christopher. And, he lived in the same area my grandparents use to. So now, I have to get someone in Winnipeg who has easy access to old directories, to look at 1900,01,02 or so and see if they are both in the book. If they are, then the problem is solved, if they are not, then I am in a quandry. This is enough to drive a normal person around the bend. Thanks and happy holidays Doug

My grandfather, now deceased, was Wilfred Chartier and my grandmother Claira, are originally from the towns of Richmond and Windsor, they are both now buried in Richmond. I live in the states, in Plattsburgh, just 20 minutes from the border. My grandparents moved to the U.S. when my dad was only ten years old, he is 58 now. Up until they moved to the states my dad and his siblings did not speak english. Unfortunately, my cousins and I were not taught french, so the bilingual era ends with my dad and his siblings. I'm sure that I have many french speaking relatives in the Richmond area that I have not met. I'm interested in finding out more about my origin. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
