Alice: I looked up the Coutts family in the Neepawa area local history book. There is a biography on John and Agnes (nee Green) Coutts. They moved from Ontario in 1890 to the Neepawa area. If this is your family I will snail mail you the biography. They built a house on the corner 2 doors down from my Mom. I am not sure if it is still standing but I know my Mom's house if 100+ years old. There was no info on the Merritt family. And I sent you all the info on the Brown family from this book. If you have been looking for Mc or Mac ancestors in an area that you know absolutely that they should be there, try putting a space between the Mac and the rest of the name.
