    3. Hi! Has any one had experience with the Boissevain Community Archives? I sent an email request to them in October and have not heard any acknowledgement or response. I do not want to bug them but I am not sure I did it properly. Nor do I have an idea of a reasonable reponse time. Any suggestions? 3. Posted on: Manitoba, Canada Queries Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/Canada/Manitoba/General/2467 Surname: Milne ------------------------- A little more digging has turned up a small amount of new information. Thomas F. Milne may not have been married to Jean/Lucille Lawrence as I had first suspected, but they would have had a relationship. Thomas was shipped out to WW2 via Quebec City, Quebec. He had/has a brother who was a police officer in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, some time in the mid to late 50's and early 60's. This is a very large brick wall for me and any help is much appreciated.

    1. [CAN-Manitoba] Miniota and Hamiota
    2. Susan Evans Shaw
    3. Hello Listers I'm reposting this message: The following is quoted from the Manitoba Legislative Library Scrapbook, February 23, 1910: "William Ferguson, Conservative member for Hamiota, comes from the neighbourhood of Smiths Falls, Ontario....Coming to Hamiota in 1892, he engaged in farming, which pursuit he has followed in that district up to the present time....Mr. Ferguson first entered public life in 1896, when he ran as a Conservative for Hamiota. He was defeated on that occasion, but ran again in 1899, when he was returned, and has continued to represent the constituency....In 1892 Mr. ferguson was married to Miss Sanderson of Minnedosa by whom he has five children. He is an Anglican in religion and a prominent member of the Masonic Lodge at Hamiota." I am searching for the names of Will Fergusons children, also information on any that might have served in WW1. Are any of his descendents still living in Hamiota? If not, does anyone know their whereabouts? Mr. Ferguson is not a relative, but he was a friend of my grandfather's, J.L, Evans of Miniota. and I'm trying to clear up some details for a biography. Any information would be welcome. 3. This is a multi-part message in MIME format. --------------740F1EF604DAA5D9F836A3AA Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Hi Rhonda. Sorry for not responding sooner..I've been a little under the weather. I can perhaps help you a little since I am adopted and have found my natural family. In Manitoba, any remaining naturla family (in this case the siblings) will have to put a request to search for their sibling. There is also a 1 time fee ot pay (the last time I checked it was around 300$) and do prepare to be patient as there is quite a backlog. I submitted my search in 1991 when I was 18 and they only started and completed my search when I was 25. Another thing you may want to keep in mind is that back in 1950 adoption was very much a closed issue..that is not many people talked about it, as if it was a big secret. There's even the possibility that the child was never told she was adopted. With this in mind, have you also thought of placing an ad in the Free Press under the heading looking for people? It may lead you to find the person a little faster. Hope this helps you! 3. Posted on: Manitoba, Canada Queries Reply Here: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/gc/Canada/Manitoba/General/2462 Surname: Gibson ------------------------- I am interested in finding anyone who has any information on the Gibson family that lived in the portage la prairie area during the 1950's. They were a large family, one daughter had a child in about 1954, that she kept and raised. There was another daughter that gave birth to a daughter born April 10 1956 at the old grace hospital in winnipeg manitoba. This child was apparently given up for adoption. The family was very supportive of her decision so it os not like anybody did not know of that childs existance. Although the mother of this child prefers not to have any contact with the said child, someone, somewhere must have some information about this family. This childs parents are both deceased now. the mother died in 1980 at 72 years old and the father on 1971 at 65 years old. There were atleast three other brothers and a sister in this family, one brother traveled the circus route for a time. The paternal grandfather ofthis family was born in Ireland , worked as a blacksmith, and drove a taxie in the portage area. The grandmother was born in Canada but of Irish racial origin. Could someone out there please help me to fill in the blank spaces,,, I will keep trying. Thank you . If you can you can e-mail me at wmcphail@escape.ca or phone me at 1 204 827 2398.
