Hi List Here's hoping that soneone may be able to help. My Great Aunt Olive Edith Paradine born 1887 in Barnsley,WRY,England, emigrated to BC when she was 16. She married a Mr Parsons but i don't know where or what his first name was. I met her twice when she came to England on visits, once in 1962 and again in 1969, she had a son she called Buster but this could have been a nickname and he lived in Winnipeg. I belive she went to live with him but the only addresses we had for her were 5007 Newton Ave and 6662 Dunblane Ave, South Burnaby, Vancouver. Her mother was Ruth Melora Paradine born in Buckinghamshire who married John George Henton and had John Willam and Ivy Elizabeth Henton. If there are any desendants out there please get in touch or if anyone is researching these again please contact me. Thank you. June Tooth [email protected]
Good evening everyone, Can anyone tell me whether there is a MI lisiting for La Riviere cemetery? Also any other information about La Riviere around 1909 would be appreciated. Thanks! Amber de Jong, Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada
Hi, My grandfather Neil Nicholson's parents imigrated from Isle of Skye, Scotland to Canada around 1860 where they worked in the lumber industry. His parents, William and Kate Nicholson moved to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan a few years later to work in the copper mines. Apparently they moved back to Manitoba temporarily, however, because my grandfather was born in Manitoba in 1875. The only Nicholsons I can find on the 1881 census are Donald and Elizabeth Nicholson (both born in Scotland in 1850's) and James and Agnes Nicholson (both born in Scotland in the 1830's). James and Agnes named two of their children William and Kate, I notice. Both families were living in Winnipeg, Selkirk and James is listed as a lumber merchant. I think these must be the family that I am looking for. I am wondering if anyone on the list might, by chance have any information about these families or be able to advise me where to look for information. I would appreciate any help at all, since I was not sure which area of Canada I should be looking in before and have just discovered the Manitoba link. Thanks so much, Sheila
Hello Don, Can't help with the cemetery records but the homestead would have been 9 miles east and 1 mile north from Glencairn which is on the railway line running from Portage la Prairie to Dauphin. Hi Folks Are there directories in Canada and more specifically in Manitoba, that can easily be checked to find out where someone was living in between census dates? I am specifically looking for the periods 1882-1890 and 1892-1900. The person I am looking for is Charles William Wilder: 1873- born in Marylebone, London, 1881 English Census - 8 yrs old living in Marylebone, 1891 Canadian Census - 17 yrs old, a farm labourer on the farm of William Gibson in Clanwilliam, Manitoba, 1901 missing from Canadian Census, probably in Manitowoc, Wisconsin, USA. Thanks in anticipation Gordon
Gerry, Thanks from me again. You helped me so much as many names were my family . What a job you undertook. Thanks again for the extra help with cemeteries too. Dorothy Brown

It really was a tremendous thing you did for all of us, Gerry. How exciting when names are recognized, and what fun to read the news the way it used to be. Thanks for your time and thoughtfulness. tish

Hello! I plan to research the development and current status of German culture in Manitoba. For this reason, I want to look at some cities that are strongly influenced by German immigrants and their culture. Du you have some hints, which cities I should focus on? Does anybody have an URL where I can find a map that shows the allocation of German immigrants in certain areas of Manitoba? Thank you! Hello listers: Does anyone know if the cemetery at Glenborough manitoba is transcribed?. And is there anyone that could do a look up for me. I am looking for Hannah Jane Fawcett (Cross) buried about 1891. She died at Glenborough manitoba so I am presuming that she is buried there. Thanks Marietta
Hello Marietta According to the list I have Glenboro has been transcribed. You could contact http://www.mts.net/~mgsi/ and ask for a look up if no one on line has the transcription. The cost of the printout for the whole cemetery is 8.00 I believe. I recently asked about a cemetary called "Melquua" I see by the MB cemetary list there is a Melgund in the Hartney area. This is likely it. Does anyone live near there. I'm looking for a Caroline Mary (Wettenhall) BATEMAN buried there. Coralynn
