    3. Funny - I've always heard that the cause of death would be blanked out unless requested. I've ordered several death certs and the cause of death was always blanked out. Unless, of course, this is something new. I would suggest asking specifically for the cause of death when you fill in the form, just in case - tell them you're doing a medical genealogy!! 3. I phoned the office and was told that if I stated I wanted a certificate for genealogy purposes that the cause of death would not be blanked out.... so hears hoping .... I will try again!

    3. I believe that even if you ask for a death cert for genealogy purposes, the cause of death is still blacked out. For whatever reason you are asking for a death cert, you have to specifically state that you want the cause of death and why. I wouldn't waste the time or money sending for another death cert. 3. Hi Mary Anne, A few years ago I received a death cert. from Manitoba with the "cause of death" blocked out. A couple of years later I sent them a photocopy of the one they sent plus a note saying that I would like to have a copy of a cert. with it not crossed out and they did send it to me. You could try this before you pay again. 3. Manitoba has no death index. The gov't is still playing the game of holding the records for ransom, and requiring you to send them an exorbitant payment for doing a search for which the chances are they'll send you the wrong certifiacte in the end. 3. I agree. That's exactly what I did. I included a letter stating that my grandfather was deceased, my father was deceased and therefore I was "next of kin". It worked for me. 3. Hi Barbara....I have found Manitoba to be a difficult province to get information from. However, it is not totally impossible. I would write back to them and include the cheque and application and explain to them that you are the next of kin. Since no other closer relative is living, you are next of kin.
