    1. [CAN-Manitoba] Informative lists should be allowed
    2. Cheryle
    3. Hello listmates I too was horrified as to the way this issue was handled. I am a quiet member who has only asked a few questions in the past, hoping some info may pop up that may pertain to me. However, these lists are for the purpose os sharing, they should not contain borders when it comes to that. Simple. As long as the information going onto the lists pertains to our searches or even look ups what is the big fuss. I live in BC and have offered on other lists to do things from my end. EX, I took digitals of a whole cemetery that I feel is way in the boonies and felt is my duty to ask if any one on any of the lists I belonged to had any family members in there, I would gladly pass on the photo. These lists are about helping one another. I can understand if it is spam or a virus issue, but this was not the case. Ease up and let freedom of speach prevail on our lists in conjuncion with helping one another and sharing of information Regards PS I used to live in Thompson many many yrs ago Cheryle Brazier-Donnelly Researching-BATES-BRAZIER-HAIGHT-MOTT-SEARLS-STOVER-TOMPKINS-WONCH Research Page http://www.members.shaw.ca/cheryle/ Mirror Site http://www.cherthebear.cyberland-usa.com/ --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. 3. It is sad to see so many people leaving this list. I can empathize with their frustration, and I also considered leaving. As others have stated, to do so will hurt the leaver more than anyone else. The policy is extremely restrictive, and seems to me not to allow for the fact that Manitoba was a "stopping point" for some families that later crossed borders to the West and South. I can only add my voice to those of the posters that have expressed a hope that the listowner will reconsider. BTW, I'm offering to do lookups in "Kelwood Bridges the Years: 1890 - 1967" and in "Heritage: Neepawa Land of Plenty: 1883 - 1983". Anyone requiring a lookup, please e-mail me off-list and state "Look-up: Placename/SURNAME" in the subject line. My responses will be cc'd to the list. Many families that settled the Beautiful Plains region, came from Ontario. I also have books dealing with Simcoe County, and can do lookups for anyone that knows for sure that their MANITOBA families were previously in Simcoe County, especially if they were in Oro Twp. or Vespra Twp. Use the same subject-line format. Sincerely, Patricia Sherman

    3. Can anyone tell me what kind of information a municipality keeps on a burial. Do they have paperwork that gives parents names etc that isn't on the headstones. Or who pays for the burial etc. I don't want to send for a death certificate because I was told he died in Montreal but I found someone with the same name buried in MB beside the rest of the Batemans. Age is right BUT our birth date would make him older. Big conundrum Coralynn

    3. Hello Listers, This book tells of the pioneer settlement in the Turtle Mountain Souris-Basin area including Deloraine, Ninga, Old Wakopa (1877 LaRiviere) and Fairfax. It was in the Winnipeg library some time ago and you could probably get it through inter library loan. Here are some of the names I jotted down in the hopes that someone is looking for them. 1. [CAN-Manitoba] Longburn Cemetery
    2. CAROL LAMBERSON
    3. I am researching the DOWNING family who lived near MacDonald in the early 1900's. I have been searching for information regarding my Great Grandmother, Myra or Elmyra Downing, who may have lived and died in the area. I believe some of the family could have been buried in a Longburn Cemetery. There could have been a Gardner family who I think may have been related. Does someone have a listing of who is buried in this cemetery? I found an article that listed a Nellie Elenor Downing, age 6 yr who died in 1919 in rural MacDonald, daughter of Sylvester and Jennie Downing. A Rev Dickerson was listed and I'm trying to discover what religion he was connected. I would like to know more about this family since I've been searching for a living relative. I'm hoping someone can help me. Thank you. [email protected]

    3. Please SKS advise as to what cemeteries were serving this city in 1894. My great uncle died in that year and I've sent (a second time) for the death certificate, but I'm not sure it will provide information on where he is buried. If there was a burial place associated with the Church Of England, it will be at that location I think. The name is Thomas Hay LORIMER and if anyone happens to find that name on a stone, I'd be most grateful to learn about it. Thomas was born in Aberdalgie, Perth, Scotland. Hoping! 3. Just a quick note.. I offered the same thing on another list, re several books I have... I lady contacted me... As a result,we were able to send her 65 -yes 65 pages of history re her family. She was in the Souther states, and had no idea about her fathers side of family. Turned out they were some of the very early settlers in the area.in Sask. Plus a lot of other important family history, plus pictures.. It was not even the list of Sask. -but Quebec..I love to help.. and the returns have been greater than giving..The lists and helping one another is the only way we find those lost family members.I for one am trying to build those bones back to life...Lets be a little kinder to one another-this world is tough enough to live in... My two cents Mary
