    3. Hi Jeen, Could you try your luck with some look-ups for me? They are three sisters - Eileen, Francine & Christine PHILO They each appeared with their mother in Henderson's 1947 Directory for Winnipeg but Eileen does not subsequently appear so I feel she may have married in 1947 or 1948. Her two younger sisters are in their own place in the 1948 Henderson (and mother has also moved to a different address) so their marriages will (I hope) be in 1948 or later. Unfortunately our fellow listers have not sent me extracts from later Hendersons. Francine married Marcel MORIER in 1950 according to her 1997 obituary which indicated that Eileen married a HENDERSON and Christine a MACKEY. From Francine's obituary she was a Roman Catholic. I hope that you will find another brick (or more) that I can remove from my wall! Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada R3C 0V8 Ph: (204) 945-3746 Fax: (204) 945-3988 E-MAIL nmservices@leg.gov.mb.ca **************************************************************************** April 5, 2004 MANITOBA CELEBRATES 10TH ANNIVERSARY OF HUDSON'S BAY COMPANY GIFTS Culture, Heritage and Tourism Minister Eric Robinson today congratulated the Hudson's Bay Company (HBC) History Foundation board of directors on the 10th anniversary of the company's contributions to Manitoba historical organizations through the foundation. The minister also announced a database which will soon be launched on the Archives of Manitoba website. The recipients of the HBC's gifts are the Archives of Manitoba, the Manitoba Museum and Canada's National History Society. During the last decade, the Hudson's Bay Company History Foundation has contributed $18 million to Manitoba to support the work of the archives, museum and society. "Manitoba has become the proud owner of priceless records and artifacts generated, collected and preserved by the Hudson's Bay Company and generously donated to our province," said Robinson. "During this time, the foundation has also provided ongoing financial support to the Archives of Manitoba for the preservation and housing of these records, ensuring their safety and access to them by people around the world." The HBC records were originally deposited in the Archives of Manitoba in 1974 for safekeeping. In 1994, the records were officially donated to the province. The Manitoba Museum houses, preserves and exhibits the HBC artifact collection that was donated by the company to the museum in 1994. The collection, spanning three centuries of the company's colourful history, includes artifacts originating from First Nations, Métis and Inuit communities, a European-Canadian collection that depicts company life and enterprise, and a fine art collection. In the same year, the foundation set up Canada's National History Society as a charitable organization to popularize Canadian history through the Beaver magazine and several award programs, including the Governor General's Award Program. Robinson also announced the upcoming launch of Keystone, a major electronic initiative that will provide access to records held by the Archives of Manitoba. Keystone will be available this spring on the archives' website, incorporating records of the HBC, the Government of Manitoba, and private individuals and organizations. "This database will make the treasures of the archives available around the clock to people carrying out research in schools, libraries and in their homes," said the minister. - 30 -

    3. Hello Evelyn in Kent, I would suggest you first go to the Manitoba Vital Statistics searchable web site at http://web2.gov.mb.ca/cca/vital/ and you will find about 8 deaths for Thomas Baker. Maybe one of them could be the man you are looking for? Also there is a marriage for a Edith Avis Pennicard who married Alexander Mitchell Clark on July 29, 1921 in St. Boniface here in Winnipeg. Any chance the family was Catholic? Let us know if you find any possible matches. 3. Hi everyone I'm trying to trace families who left the Edenbridge Kent in the early 1900s. There was Tom BAKER who went to Canada and nothing more is known but we heard last year that a son came over to look for family. Unfortunately we didn't get to know until recently. Tom's Mother was Kate ANSCOMBE and Father James BAKER. James BAKER died young and Kate married for a second time to Henry James PATTENDEN in Edenbridge. Kate and Henry James PATTENDEN had twin children and my husband is descended from their son Henry James. I am trying to trace the family of his twin sister who was Edith Avis PATTENDEN who married Harry Dennis PENNICARD. They moved to Canada about the time of WWI and the families have now lost touch. We believe they had three daughter. Harry PENNICARD came back to fight in the war and was killed. The family remained in Canada, we believe the Winnipeg area. Has anyone heard of this family as we would love to make contact with them. Evelyn Jenner in Kent
