The age isn't listed because it won't have been determined when the death certificate was filled out. That, in turn, is usually because the person supplying the information, who is usually a relative (but it depends on the situation) didn't know Mr. Hackett's birth date. Still, it's worthwhile checking the actual entry, just in case. You might also check the British Columbia Cemetery Finding Aid. It's "a pointer database consisting of the surnames, cemetery name and location of more than 344,000 entries collected from records and headstone inscriptions associated with 264 cemeteries situated in the province of British Columbia, Canada and two from the state of Washington, USA." It's at: <http://www.islandnet.com/bccfa/homepage.html> There are only two Hacketts, both named Alfred George, listed in that database but they were both buried in the same cemetery just outside of Victoria. That's not far from Powell River as the crow flies, but you have to take a couple of ferries and drive a fair while to get from one place to the other if you are packing a body about. There's information when you repeat my search about how to contact the cemetery to see if the tombstone has birth info on it. ***** Peter Morgan * Morgan:Newsletters * 604.683.3241 * pmorgan@morgan-news.com News that sells * #118, 970 Burrard St., Vancouver, B.C., V6Z 2R4, Canada Dogs have owners.
