    2. > Just curious - what is the St Albans List you refer to ? > Hello Frank, In short, St. Albans Lists are a collection of records of immigrants crossing the border from Canada into the USA between 1895 and 1954. Although St. Alban is technically in Vermont, the list covers all border crossings including crossings that took place between BC and Washington State which is the area that I am researching. The list is first indexed via surname (Soundexed) on one film. There is basic information transcribed on these cards, some more than others depending on what the transcriber wrote down. Included on this Soundexed card is the date of entry. Once you have that, you can then search the Manifests which may contain more information than what was on the Soundexed cards. These manifests are indexed by year, then month, then alphabetically by port of entry. There is one important thing about these records that I'm trying to search. Apparently, the records after 1917 west of the Montana/North Dakota State line are not included in these records. I'm in the process of trying to find out who holds these records and whether or not they are filmed. If anyone knows, I'd appreciate it if you would let me know. Shelly in California

    3. Shelly, are these lists only one way--Canada to U.S. and not both ways? Are they only immigrants or do they record visitors too?
