    3. Hi Malcolm, The book is listed at the Alberta GenWeb Local History Book Site: -There are no Volunteers - although Peter Goutbeck is the one who submitted the Index to the book. Peter is a member of the Alberta Genealogy Society - Edmonton Branch. The following - Strathconta County GenWeb. gives some information about Strathcona County - as well - other info. http://www.geocities.com/strathconacounty/ Map Showing Location of Strathcona county: Alberta: http://www.strathcona.ab.ca/Strathcona/Council/About+Strathcona+County/Strathcona+County+map.htm http://www.epl.ca/EPLStrathconaBranchRestoration.cfm http://users.rootsweb.com/~canab/lookstra.html Here in Vancouver - we do have a district of Strathcona. part of the East Side of Vancouver. http://www.discovervancouver.com/GVB/strathcona.asp http://www.samsbia.com/gallery.htm http://www.city.vancouver.bc.ca/community_profiles/strathcona/ At one time many newcomers to the city first lived there - some still remain. It was a mix of ethnic groups - on the edge of our Chinatown. Fortunately - there are some people who value the early history of the area. and rather than destroy the heritage homes - have brought them back to life. I hadn't been there for many years -but visited - in hope of still finding some of the homes that I had found listed in paperwork - What a wonderful surprise - to find them still standing - and in wonderful condition. - a little gem of a community.
