    1. [CAN-BC] Post 1901 Census -- Petition Totals to date
    2. Gordon A. Watts
    3. Greetings All I have just finished collating the petitions for the House of Commons that I have received since 22 November. They will be mailed in the morning. The break down is as follows: Province Previous Current Total ============================== BC 2468 256 2724 AB 5380 42 5422 SK 709 131 840 MB 283 164 447 ON 2297 653 2950 PQ 681 126 807 NB 501 40 541 NS 604 141 745 PE 99 0 99 NF 208 52 260 YT 7 0 7 NT 0 0 0 NUN 0 0 0 =============================== Totals 13237 1605 14842 Muriel advises that she has to date submitted 12,581 Canadian signatures on Petitions for the Senate to which I have a further 63 to send her. She has also submitted Non-Resident petitions having 2, 132 signatures. This brings the total number of signatures on our petitions alone, since the November 2000 federal election, to 29,618. Add to this figure the estimated 16,000 signatures on petitions, letters and email to MPs, and submissions to the Expert Panel on Access of Historical Census Records sent prior to the election, we achieve a total of 45, 618 signature sent to Ottawa. This figure does not include additional unknown numbers of signatures on letters and email sent either prior to, or following the November 2000 election, or on petitions not directed through either myself or Muriel since that election. Neither does it include signatures on petitions that may have been sent by groups other than the Canada Census Committee. We have no means of tracking numbers of letters or email sent since the election. Check the Scoreboards on the Post 1901 Census Project website, at the URL following my signature for the tally of MPs and Senators, and their stated positions. The figures posted this past week have had some minor adjustments and the new totals should be online within a few days. The number of hits on the Home Page of the Post 1901 Census Project website has now exceeded 200,000 since it was started. At the moment we are receiving in excess of 10,000 hits per month. Even considering that many of those will be repeat visits and do not include visits that bypass the Home Page we are happy with the numbers. Happy Hunting. Gordon A.
