I have a George Roe Nicholson who was born 26 Feb 1873 Dublin, Ireland. He emigrated to Canada at an unknown date. He married Susan Donnelly 23 May 1906 in Vancouver, BC. When he enlisted in the Canadian Army 2 May 1916, he gave his address as Clayton, R.R.#3, Cloverdale, and occupation as farmer. I am assuming he moved to BC in his twenties, and am trying to find him in the 1901 Canadian census. However I cannot find any reference to Cloverdale in the census index of places. Can anyone with more experience of this census suggest in which district he may have been living? Thanks Jon Whiting in UK
