I grow up not far from where this family lived. The schools he would have attended were: grade 1-7 Bench School and Grade 8-10 would have been George Bonner in Mill Bay (yes that was the closest) and Grade 11-12 Cowichan Secondary in Duncan - that is if he went to public schools. If Anglican they would have been closer to St. Johns in Cobble Hill than St. Andrews in Cowichan Station - but not by much so both are worth checking. If Catholic the old St. Ann's church would have been the closest. Hope this is of some help.
