To all:- The voters of the province of British Columbia voted in 34 Members of Parliament -- but only 23 have listened to the ones who voted for them -- also pay their salaries. Voters are hoping for support and release of Post-1901 Canadian census records to complete family records. There are presently two Bills, S-12 in the Senate and C-312 has been drawn in the House of Commons. We request support of all -- on behalf of the British Columbia voters. http://www.globalgenealogy.com/Census/Score1.htm#BC At the left, under the names of the MP, will be their personal message board -- very enlightening -- shows how much the elected ones are doing for constituents. Some have not found time to reply to myself or others since 1999:- Mr. Jim Gouk <Gouk.J@parl.gc.ca> of West Kootenay-Okanagan has had letters -- does not follow the Canadian Alliance policy of census release. Ms. Sophia Leung <Leung.S@parl.gc.ca> is another one -- from Vancouver Kingsway, Liberal -- no replies since 1999. Philip Mayfield of Cariboo-Chilcotin <Mayfield.P@parl.gc.ca> is another one letting down his party's policy and his constituents. Werner Schmidt of Kelowna <Schmidt.W@parl.gc.ca> needs a few letters -- also not following the party policy. Randy White of Langley-Abbotsford <White.R@parl.gc.ca> needs to check on party policy and talk to constituents. The Hon. David Anderson of Victoria <Anderson.D@parl.gc.ca> was still answering letters in April, 2000 - mentioning the Expert Panel report "to be released" [denied by Brian Tobin]. The Hon. Herb Dhaliwal of Vancouver South-Burnaby requires some constituents to visit him on the weekend -- all letters to him receive a two-line automated reply -- but he takes his salary. The Hon. Hedy Fry of Vancouver Centre <Fry.H@parl.gc.ca> is Liberal, did reply to the 1999 letter from Global Genealogy. However, that sharpened picket fence must be uncomfortable! Stephen Owen from Vancouver Quadra, Liberal, elected Nov. 27, 2000 has replied <Owen.S@parl.gc.ca> Ted White made the scoreboard colorful with his RED X -- also from North Vancouver, Canadian Alliance -- he writes long letters which do not give the requested support. Joe Peschisolido of Richmond, BC, has been unable to reply since his constituents elected him Nov. 27, 2000. Very possibly all voters of VANCOUVER should visit the ones they elected to represent them in Ottawa -- many could be searching family histories or for lost family members. I have had good results since I started this Cross-Canada Blitz, some of which would surprise the ones listed above. Keep checking the URL given above -- Gordon Watts, from British Columbia, will be updating the scoreboard next week. Muriel M.
