Hello Eveyone. I'm hoping someone can help me.I live in Ontario and just got news of my ex-mother-in-laws' death. I'm hoping someone can find a copy of her obit in the newspaper for my sons. Her name is "CLAIRE MARIE HAMMER" She passed away July 26,2001 in Lumby B.C. at 67 years of age. If anyone could help, I'll be very very grateful. Please contact me mac@x5ca.net Thank-You. Kim.
Hi Kim, My condolences to your sons and you. I looked in the online notices from yesterday and today's major Vancouver papers but don't see it yet. If you check for the next couple of days, you should catch it. http://www.classifiedsbc.com/classifiedsbc/categories-announcements.html They don't have them archived, so you need to look each day. Maybe the local paper in the Lumby area of the Okanagan will have an article. I hope one of our list members can help with this for you. Hi Kim. Just checked the Vancouver Sun and Province obits and there is nothing there at the moment. It may take a day or two to show up if published there. Here are two URLs for newspapers that will help you check things for yourself. Good luck. http://www.junction.net/news/newspapers.asp http://www.newsdirectory.com Happy Hunting. Gordon A. Hi Kim, The following are some newspapers that cover the Lumby Area. Perhaps contacting them would be of help. http://www.northokanagan.org/r_medi.htm There is an e mail address for the Lumby Valley Times - whether they carry obits ? - but I am sure that they would probably be able to help. http://www.monashee.com/lvt/index.html I will check the Vancouver Province ( Sunday Edition) in the morning - and the Vancouver Sun on Monday Morning. Will get back to you if I find the obit. It is quite possible that there will not be an obit published in the Vancouver papers - if there were no family and friends that would need to be notified. A suggestion: Please check the newspapers in your area - in many cases when there are out of town family and friends - there is a request made for newspapers in those areas to copy the obit .
