    3. Talk about coincidence! I just now found the Ross Bay Cemetery online. Peter Bell died 1944.06.18 and wife Ellen Sarah Dupont Bell died 1911.05.28. I am sure the death date for Peter 1944 is wrong - could it be 1914? Maureen Clarke __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Get personalized email addresses from Yahoo! 3. Hi Maureen, The following is the ref. for the Death Registration of Ellen Bell. There will be someone on the list who can copy - or at least obtain some information from this registration for you. I would normally offer - but -I don't drive - we have a transit strike - and I am nursing an injured knee so walking is out of the question at this time. I imagine that there could be an error - some of the registrations are pretty faint - perhaps when copies were made - the date was misread ? When I am able to get around - get a ride - I will take a look at the obituaries - Or - perhaps someone on the list will do the search. The newspapers will be archived at the Provincial Archive in Victoria. U.B.C. also has newspapers - Vancouver Public Library - downtown - also has newspapers on microfilm -not all years covered. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------- The Ellen Sarah Bell -died age 71 years in 1911 (aprox birth year 1840 ) listed at Ross Bay Cemetery - was born in Quebec ? - Died in Victoria B.C. Burial at:Block T -62 W. 46. The Peter Warren W. Bell - died age 72 years in 1944 - (aprox birth year 1872 )listed at Ross Bay Cemetery - was born in Ontario - died in Victoria B.C. - Burial at Block T -61/62 W. 46 Ellen Sarah Dupont - married - Peter Warren Wentworth 1866, Belleville, Ontario. Is there a Posibility that the Peter Warren W. Bell - born Aprox 1872 deceased 1944 - might be a son - rather than the husband of Sarah ? Only searching the records will tell. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------ DROWNING ACCIDENT: You Mention that Peter Warren Wentworth BELL died in a drowning accident - are you sure that the body was recovered ? Do you know the name of the ship ? ***** If the body was not recovered - there would possibly not be a "Death Registration" as far as I know. (My cousins wife lost a grandfather and then her father in drowning accidents - there was never a death registration issued). There may have been a Coronors Inquest into the drowning. Whether this would have been in Alaska - or B.C. ??? * http://www.lib.uaa.alaska.edu/archives/Photographs/PhotoExhibits/SteamshipsI nTrouble.html . Her Last Sunset. S.S. Edith. Alaska Coast. 1915. . On August 30, the crew of 37 abandoned ship and were picked up by the S.S. Mariposa. The floundering freighter eventually sank in the Gulf of Alaska. S.S. Mariposa. October 8, 1915 While on a northbound voyage from Seattle to Cook Inlet, the Mariposa struck a rock ledge on upper Fitzhugh Sound. The impact tore a hole in the ship's bottom forward, and it was stranded near the entrance of Lama Pass. The 95 passengers aboard were safely landed on the beach ------------------------------------------------------------------- 1 Name: ELLEN SARAH BELL Event Date: 1911 5 28 (Yr/Mo/Day) Age: 71 Gender: Female Event Place: VICTORIA Reg.
