    1. [CAN-BC] The plot thickens! - Searching for information on Chatterson

    3. Hi, First of all I would like to thank all the people who so generously have assisted me in my quest for knowledge. The people on this listserve have been amazing and, like Imogen from England, I feel like my faith in human nature (especially at this difficult time) has been given a boost. I am researching my great grandparents, Charles Alexander Chatterson and Sarah McKnight who lived in Vancouver from 1923 until their deaths. They operated "Mary Jane Candy Company" in Vancouver. It is rumoured that this company was bought out by Laura Secord. I am also interested in my gg aunt Stella May Chatterson (d. Sept 1, 1942, age 84). Thanks to the lovely people on this listserve, I now know have the death registrations and the obituaries for Charles and Sarah. Stella died at Essondale after having been institutionalized for 8 years. She died on September 1, 1942. I requested her medical records and I was shocked to find listed on her visitor record a C.H. Chatterson. He was listed as her son. As far as I know, she didn't have any children nor did she ever marry. I was thinking that it might be a mistake since her brother's initials are C.A. but on one form both men are listed. The address for C.H. Chatterson in 1936 is given as "3047 Granville St. Vancouve! r.Bay 5350", the same as C. A. I was thinking that perhaps it was her nephew rather than her son but in Charles' obit, it only mentions one son, Walter James. I don't know if there would be an obit for Stella as she was buried in "Asyllum Cemetary" at Essondale. From her death certificate, it doesn't look like there was any family involved in her death as all of the information about her comes off of her committal papers and there is no "informant" listed. Does anyone have any suggestions about how I might find out whether or not there was a son? Thanks, Bonnie
