Hi Karen, That was one spelling I did not check ( did not think of it). 21 records are a lot to search - not bad if time allows - and we know that the search will bring valid results.,but this weekend is pretty well taken up. Friends finally had their baby after 10 years ( lost one a year ago two days prior to birth) - we are all to excited by this to really think of anything else - we are going to see her this afternoon. I am going to attempt the lookups this morning - being in town allows me an easier bus ride - only one transfer - my leg still doesn't like the step up and down onto the bus so the fewer the better. Telephone Directory Canada 411: http://www.teldir.com/real/frame.asp?page=http://canada411.sympatico.ca There are 13 TEICHROB - surnames listed for B.C. - 36 Teichrob listed for All Canada. Hello. How far back do records go for tribal families? Need info ca 1800's please. Any known way of checking? Thank you. Viola.
Hi Viola, David sent you the following information in October 2000. Did you follow up ? <snip> Date: Wed, 11 Oct 2000 23:35:49 -0700 From: "David Fancy" <David_Fancy@telus.net> To: CAN-BRITISH-COLUMBIA-L@rootsweb.com Message-Id: <20001012063056.ZWDO19691.priv-edtnes11-hme0.telusplanet.net@tower> Subject: Re: [CAN-BC] CREE TRIBE IN BC. Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Hi Viola You will probably have better luck with "Hudson Bay Archives" for any records that early as BC was still HBC territory at that time. I have not heard of a "Cree Nation" in BC. There is a Web Site at http://www.civilisations.ca/membrs/fph/stones/groups/cree.htm this site has maps showing the the distribution of the various tribal and language groups. It seems the CREE were more likely to be from Alberta, Sakatchewan, Manitoba and Ontario. It is quite probable that they were of Cree ancestry and having married a Trader/Trapper move with him to one of the Forts at Victoria, Yale, Hope etc: Regards David ______________ On Wed, 11 Oct 2000 07:59:26 -0500, Viola Seward wrote: > Mornin listers, can any one tell me how many and where the Cree lived in >BC?
