That fits with what I know about his occupation. I've just had a look on the outbound passengers list on findmypast.com and found him sailing on the Corsican from Liverpool on 11 July 1907, which suggests he was intending to emigrate rather than specifically to sign up for the Canadian Exeditionary Force. I don't think Edward's wife came to England when he returned because no one knows anything about her except her given name. -- Charani (UK)
