Hello John I looked in ancestry.ca for both Charles Edward Seymour and Elizabeth McFarlane Dods. I found a possible death registration for Charles, and also a 1901 Canadian Census mention for a Elizabeth Seymour, age 65, born in Quebec in 1835. She is living in Vancouver in 1901 with a Charles E. Seymour, age 77, and what I'm guessing is their two children, Geo. W. Seymour, aged 35, and Mary L. Seymour, age 28. I live in Victoria, BC, where the BC Archives are located for the province. I could look up the Charles' death certificate for you the next time I'm down there if you wish. The death certificate usually has more information about the person on it. If you feel this is the right person, just let me know if you want me to go ahead with this on my next visit to the Archives. The Canadian Census information is free and at www.ancestry.ca. It will open on a 'search' page. Just type in either Charles' or Elizabeth's name and it will turn up the 1901 Canadian Census in a list of vital events and other entries. I used Elizabeth's name and found her right at the top of the first page. Let me know if I can help you further, All the best, Janet ----- Original Message ----- From: J D v Dods <dodsfreecen@yahoo.com> Date: Friday, January 19, 2007 6:35 pm Subject: [CAN-BC] SEYMOUR & DODS in Vancover > Hello this is my first post to this list. > I picked put a copy of a post on the list listing > death notices from the British Coulmbiam in 1916, > including Charles Edward SEYMOUR who married Elizabeth > McFarlane DODS (my great-grandmother Mary Catherine > Dods, nee DODS, sister). > Both the DODS & SEYMOUR families moved out to BC from > Montreal at the turn of the century. > Charles & Elizabeth's son, Charles Edward SEYMOUR was > a Steamer Captain, he died in 1928 onboard his steamer > the S.S. Hello Janet, thank you very much for your offer, you are very kind. I do have a copy of both Charles' death certs, my 11th cousin (totally different line to this one) drove down from Sidney and got copies for me. (Apparently it's quite drive, so I haven't asked for other stuff, they no doubt have other things to do while down in Victoria). I was one of the transcribers for the 1901 Candian census indexing project, a year or two back, I've not offered to do any of the 1911 as I've enough on my plate right now. Charles jnr's death cert says there was an autopsy. Are these easily accessable? cheers John --- JANET KER <kerhousehold_2006@shaw.ca> wrote: > Hello John > > I looked in ancestry.ca for both Charles Edward > Seymour and Elizabeth McFarlane Dods.
