Hello Judy & List! My uncle belongs to a club (not quite sure what it's called!!) but they restore the old trams and also run a refurbished tram in the Granville Island - Science World area during the tourist season. They have produced a wonderful video tape of all the old Tram Lines, showing all the old routes. These video pictures were taken before the trams were discontinued, so the cities of Vancouver, Burnaby, New Westminster and even the line that ran all the way out to Chilliwack are shown, as they were, back in the early 1950's. Many of the conductors were named, especially the ones who were part of the sight-seeing tram that ran in Vancouver. That particular line is shown extensively, along with lots of information about the men who worked on it and the people who entertained the tourists. I have a copy of this tape - although I'm in the middle of moving so I can't view it right now to check for names - but I can find out where a tape can be purchased if anyone is interested. It's fully narrated by two men who used to run these trams and is chock-full of information about the lower mainland area in general as well as information about the trams themselves. It's a wonderful, nostalgic look-back at our city and her people, the way they were "back then". The tape runs for at least forty minutes or longer if I remember correctly. I believe the cost was something like $20.00, so if anyone is interested I will contact my uncle and see if more can be purchased.
