To all who desire the 1911 census released:- Members of the Senate of Canada are in his or her respective areas for this coming week, after proceedings on Bill S-18, An Act to Amend the Statistics Act. The Senate Standing Committee on Social Affairs, Science and Technology met on Thursday, February 24 for a brief meeting, with posting at http://www.globalgenealogy.com/Census/Index.htm The complete report of the meeting has been posted. The Report will be given next week, followed by Third Reading -- there were no amendments to Bill S-18 made by the committee. Should anyone wish to complete a belated Senate or Non-Resident petition, download from above site -- my address is there. Your signature on a petition is YOUR voice in Ottawa. [Non-Resident Petitions are for those not residing in Canada] When Bill S-18 moves to the House of Commons, all petitions will go to Gordon A. Watts. These are being accepted now as well. I am hopeful, as is Senator Lorna Milne that Bill S-18 will be passed. Please, NO letters to any Senators re Bill S-18. However, take a peek at the House of Commons scoreboard -- if your MP still shows a BLUE ? or something other than GOLD, why not check with him or her. Copies are requested. http://www.globalgenealogy.com/Census/Index6.htm Let's have a fat envelope to deliver to Senator Lorna Milne on Saturday!!! Muriel M.
