Carol, In reply to your query about where one could find a fiche reader, I remember a post on another list which suggested that one could try places which "deal" in parts. For example, many, if not all, automobile dealerships had fiche readers in their parts and repair departments to view parts catalogues and assembly diagrams. Another source might be the many "little" parts autoparts warehouses which supply generic or out-of-production auto parts such as to spark plugs, light bulbs, etc. These lists and manuals are now mostly on computerized media such as CD-ROMs or vendors' web sites. So, somewhere up in the attics of car dealerships there are probably two or three fiche readers being stored "just in case we need them". It was suggested that some might be had for the trouble of taking them away, others might want $50 to $100 for them. Also, maybe others saw the message I saw and they are all now found in good genealogy researchers' homes. good hunting -- Marshall Price pricem@uniserve.com http://www.users.uniserve.com/~pricem
