    3. Hi List, I thank you for all the suggestions. Rather than reply to each helfpul person individually, I'll address the questions in this post. Possibly it is my fault for not mentioning more info, or saying that I have already accounted for every other Straube entry on the index site for birth, marriage and death. The other Valentine Straube ( wife Mary Kolonoski) and the other Charles Straube ( wife Ellen) are uncles to the boys ( Valentine and Charles) that I am looking for the birth reg. for in 1889 and 1890. The other births are cousins of the ones I'm looking for. Some of the marriages are them. I have enough other documentation to know that these children were born in Vancouver. I also have the probated will from 1923, of their father, Valerian Straube. The will did not offer any new clues, other than his real estate holdings in Vancouver. I have the death registration of some of these people, the ones that I could find. I am quite sure that Valerian's wife was Julia Kolonoskie, even though there is a big age difference. The 3 brothers: Valentine Straube was a locksmith and gunsmith, possibly had a resaurant and shooting gallerery in Hastings park. Valerian had a sporting goods store on Powell St.( Harkley and Hayward?) I was told. Charles was a machinist. So, given all that, is my only hope of finding these 3 birth registrations by writing to the Provincial Archives and asking them? As to Thomas Cairns, yes, he died of a heart attack in Nelson, BC. He was from Edmonton and was just working there for about a year. His son came to retrieve the body within 2 days, and took it home to Edmonton for burial. There is no mention of a funeral home holding the body in Nelson. I have Thomas Cairns marriage cert, ( from MB) and he was born in ON. So he is none of the Thomas Cairns that married in BC. Would they not have had to registrer the death in BC since he died in Nelson, BC? Again, any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks so much, Judy.
