    3. I would offer the suggestion of wildcards: Straube = St?a?b? or ?airn? (or any combination thereof) I have found many other variants of different Surnames in my extensive extended family as I research. Thankfully there are other family historians/researchers who share some of their nuggests of finds with me. Genealogical Researcher Dennice Goudie researching: Brûlè, Poirier, McFadden, Stephens, Michelsen, French, Brooks, Brown, Goudie, Vautrin pioneer families of British Columbia and their 'country wives' http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~goudied/index.html Most Recent Family Tree database online (10,000+ individuals) http://www.gencircles.com/users/goudie_d/1 http://www.gencircles.com/users/goudie_d/2/ << Fotheringhame - V7 - 669 Unless specifically stated otherwise in this message, there is no intentional attachment on this e-mail transmission. ----- Original Message ----- From: "elista" <[email protected] : In my search for ancestor vital stats, I have run into 4 instances now where the vital event is not found on the BC archives index search. Three are births and one is a death. Would anyone have an idea of how I could get the info, or is it most likely something that has fallen through the cracks and will not likely be found. Any suggestions would be gratefully appreciated. : : Death of Thomas Cairns on March 8, 1909 in Nelson, BC. I have the obituary from the Nelson Daily News. : : Births of 3 children in Vancouver ( names and dates from the 1901 census) : Annie Cecelia Straube - born 20 Dec. 1887 : Valentine Anthony Straube - born 25 March, 1889 : Charles Straube - born 7 June, 1890 : Parents are Valerian and Julia Straube. : Coincidently, I found the 4th child ( Julia, born in 1894) on the BC archives index under the name of Stranbe, but no amount of inventive searching brought up any of the others, even just by year date search alone. :

    3. Thanks for your suggestion. I tried many variants. I also did a search on just the date, for every death in Nelson in 1909, and no one with even a name close to Thomas Cairns, so I don't think he is there at all. I also tried just birth years as well, with no luck. Could they not have been registered, or maybe delayed registration?
