Hi Mary, The simple answer is that a death registration will give you a great deal of information including her maiden name and, if known by the informant, her parents names, places of birth, birth date and more.... It is imperative though to ask for a registration and not a certificate. The certificate is genealogically pretty worthless. As well, since it's the time of year it is and most who often volunteer to get the registration copy for you for no charge basically are busy. I use www.bccopies.ca and find Don Crawford very fast and helpful. If you don't get any offers, you might try him. Oh - he's also a very economical way to get your information.
