Carol I see you have been given lots of excellent advise on where to look in Vancouver and Surrey. I use the Main Vancouver Library downtown a lot and as was mentioned it can be busy, so I have a few tips on making the best of your short time. When you first enter the library you will see a row of booths on the right hand side were they sell copier cards. I highly recommend buying one - you can buy as much as you want. The copier card can be used on the micro film reads, as well as photo copy machines. Saves having to pack a lot of small change and having the machines spit half it back out at you! :-) In the area of the library were the B/M/D and directories micro films are held there are only two microfilm reads. If they are being used you are allowed to take the films to another floor were you will usually find lots of film readers empty. I usually print off a list of what films and cert numbers I want before going to the library so I can quickly take the films I want with me to another floor without having to go up and down more than once or twice. I recommend using the micro film readers in the area were the newspapers micro films are kept (one floor down? or is it up!) so you can look up an obit to go along with the death cert. The library has Ancestory.com as well. Have fun! A day goes by quickly there!
