Maureen, You did not state what unit William was assigned to so can't say for sure but it is a good bet that his unit was in England at some point. Most if not all the units from Canada sailed from here (most from Halifax Nova Scotia) to England and many of the men underwent some training in England before heading off to their assignments. At the end of their service time most were back in England for at least a few days before they were to sail back to Canada. You can obtain a copy of his full WW1 Service Record from the Canada Archives. It will include his pay & medical records, address info here as well as were he went and when. If you fill in the e-mail form at: http://www.genealogy.gc.ca/12/1201_e.html They will tell you if they can provide the records and the cost of providing them - depends on the number of pages. I obtained my grandfathers and the cost was not great. Good Luck. Carol ----------------------------------------- I am trying to find out if Williams Unit ever came to England and what happened to William after this time. I believe he survived the war and had a family, if he married in Canada how would I go about tracing the certificate. I know I have asked lots of questions and would be would be grateful for any answers Thanks in advance Maureen ______________________________________________________________________ Post your free ad now! http://personals.yahoo.ca
