    3. Hi Carol, There is never a need to order Registrations - the expensive way - from the Provincial Archive .There are always Volunteers here at the B.C. Mail List [myself included - although I have been tied up with obligations to family and friends - and do not get out as often as I would wish - so can never guarantee a prompt response. There are also Volunteers at the Random Acts of Genealogical Kindness site. http://www.raogk.org/bcolumbia.htm ANY who offer Lookups of Public Record - can view - transcribe or copy the filmed registration. There is No Charge - although some may charge to cover their cost of copies [ .50 cents or under Cndn] and /or postage. Filmed Registratons can be viewed - at the Central Branch of the Vancouver Public Library 350 West Georgia Street, Vancouver B.C. V6B 6B1 - 604 - 331 3603.- 6th Floor. City Directories can be viewed on this floor - as well - the 7th floor. Obituaries [Newspapers - can be viewed in the Newspaper section - 5th Floor]. Photographs etc - can be viewed on the 7th floor. http://www.vpl.ca/branches/LibrarySquare/his/Genealogy/Genealogy.html Map: http://tinyurl.com/6s38c Registrations can also be viewed at some Universities - U.B.C. in Vancouver - SFU in Burnaby. Information can also be searched at the Chilliwack Library - Chillwack B.C. I have never had the need to search for wills. Check the Provincial Archive site - Textural records - just type in the name : depending on the time frame - it will show whether a will had been through Probate. If so - this information is available - but probably only through the Archive *their costs for copies - has gone up greatly - but - if you can visit Victoria - or - find a Volunteer at the RAOGK - it will only be whatever the copy machine charges are. per page. .Copies at the Archive were .20 cents per page at one time. You might want to visit the Provincial Court House in Vancouver - They may have resource to search for wills. 3. Hi Listers I am trying to locate my grandfather's death, and one of the two men below may be he. I live in Toronto Ontario and my grandfather was born near Brussels in Huron County Ontario before he abandoned his family and headed west in the late 1930's or early 1930's. We now believe that he may have changed his name to that of his dead father (as per below), so that his wife would have problems tracking him for support payments. If someone could possibly view these two records and advise the respective listed birth date, the parents' names on each death record and the birth location, I would really appreciate the help. Many thanks Deb 1. BC Vital Event Death Registration Name: Alexander Forsyth Event Date: 1974 10 14 (Yr/Mo/Day) Age: 83 Gender: male Event Place: Penticton Reg. Number: 1974-09-015510 B.C.
