    3. Hi Carol, You can go to the Vancouver Public Library in downtown Vancouver. It's a pretty big place and has loads of genealogy stuff. It tends to get quite busy though. They have the microfilmed B,D &M records that can be copied for about 50 cents each. At least when I was there that was the cost. The staff there are wonderful and always willing to help you if needed. I believe the address is 350 Georgia Street and their phone number is 604-331-3600. It's probably best to call and confirm the prices and see if you need reservations for the readers or not. If you are in the Surrey/Cloverdale area there is a library at 5642-176A Street, Surrey, BC. and their phone number is 604-576-1384. They are alot smaller than the Vancouver Library but have tons and tons of information, films, etc. and they are very willing to help you out too if needed. You can also copy B, D & M records there for 50 cents. There is a charge which I think is $2 per hour for the film readers or you can pay for a whole day, which is cheaper. Best to call them first to confirm these prices though and reservations for the readers are a must. They can also give you directions on how to get there. I think if you are out of town they have cheaper rates but I'm not totally positive about that. Happy hunting and good luck! I am going to be in Vancouver at the end of Feb. for about 6 days....I will be squeezing in visiting cousins etc. and hopefully some family history research. From here in Ontario I tend to order my certificates the expensive way...through the BC archives site. While I am there I am hoping to look up and get copies of as many as I can!! I also want to do some cemetery searching etc. Where is the best place to go to access and copy certificates while I am there? I may try to look up other public documents while there (wills etc.), Where would be my place of choice for this? Any info is welcome. I don't know what I will have time for, but am hoping to at least find out a little info as well as taking tons of photos! Carol in London, Ontario -- No virus found in this outgoing message. 3. You should also check out the BC Genealogical Society's Resource Centre in Surrey . You can check the BCGS catalogue before you go (on the website) & you can call or write ahead of time for more info---lots of BC info including cemetery indexes & transcriptions, also obit & clipping files. www.bcgs.ca Cloverdale Library ,also in Surrey, has a very large collection of Canadian records on microfilm, including BC vital stats indexes & registration. See their catalogue on-line also at the link below. http://www.spl.surrey.bc.ca/Programs+and+Services/Genealogy/default.htm There is also a Family History Centre in Surrey. Vancouver Public Library has the Vital Stats microfilms (indexes & registrations), also some newspapers, if you are looking for obits, etc. You can also see newspapers at Simon Fraser University or the University of British Columbia. Depending on where your family lived, you may also want to visit one of the archives/museums in the area. Many have useful materials. http://www.city.vancouver.bc.ca/ctyclerk/archives/ Also, you may be able to see cemetery indexes on-line, for e.g. for Mountainview Cemetery in Vancouver. http://www.city.vancouver.bc.ca/commsvcs/nonmarketoperations/mountainview/index.htm Good luck with your visit & have fun!
